Objectives
- Roots Afrika aims to use theatre as a vehicle to assist
a wide range of bodies from both private and public sectors
to extract the maximum benefit from educational or informational
campaigns. For example we work with governmental and non-governmental
organizations that conduct public sensitization programs on important
social issues such as
- The Role of Women in Development.
- Community Responsibility e.g. in combating child abuse,
child labour, domestic violence.
- Opportunities for people with disabilities and the marginalised.
- Through Kid's Theatre, we promote the talents of children
giving them training in self expression through dance, music and
sound, folklore and literature, drama and role-plays that shape
the children's personal expression.
- Youth constitute over half of the population of Africa, and
their social and economic realities play a leading role in the
developmental activities in Africa and worldwide. ROOTS AFRIKA
designs and animates workshops to create self-awareness, self-esteem,
responsibility and participation. We are hopeful that working
with youth organizations and agencies dedicated to the world of
the youth we will be able to reach out to as many youth as possible.
- Roots Afrika's aim is to use all forms of artistic media to
bring together the treasures hidden in African traditional art
forms, thereby continuing their role in promoting harmony between
communities.
- We at ROOTS AFRIKA, based in Uganda, the country which nearly
a century ago was christened the Pearl of Africa, are dedicated
to projecting the beauty of our homeland, its environment, its
wildlife and its people, through performances of our own creation.
We would be happy to collaborate with appropriate organizations
in this work.
- We look forward to provoking valuable cultural exchange programmes
locally and internationally.
Super Objective
ROOTS AFRIKA is looking forward to being established
as an educational centre for inspirational music, instinct,
sounds and silence ("IMISS") a concept originated
by SSETTABA DANIEL for studying performing arts,
culture, sociology, media and communication.
